ISLAMABAD:?The Constitutional Reforms Committee (CRC), on Friday, unanimously approved all the recommendations of the Supreme Court (SC) regarding the appointment of judges.

The committee meeting was chaired by Senator Raza Rabbani. It?recommended that the name of?a judge will be sent to the president via the prime minister for final approval.

According to the recommendations, the parliamentary committee for judges appointment?will have eight National Assembly members and four of?the Senate. In case the national assembly is dissolved, the Senate members?will finalise names of the judges. Three out of four members of the Senate will be able to accept or reject the name of?a judge for a post.

The reforms committee has decided to table the 19th amendment for the approval of the recommendations during?the National Assembly session starting on December 22. It has?also?formed a six member sub committee to finalise the draft of the 19th amendment.

The apex court last month asked the parliament to change a two-pronged criterion for judges’ appointment devised by the committee by inserting a new article (175-A) into the 18th constitutional amendment.

Accordingly, the government revived the Parliamentary Committee of Constitutional Reforms to undertake the task.

After initial meetings earlier this month, the committee decided to explore various options to ‘accommodate’ the Supreme Court order, including introducing a 19th amendment or passing a resolution in a joint sitting of the National Assembly and the Senate.

The Supreme Court, in its interim order, had asked the parliament to amend the mechanism for judges’ appointment in a way that it gives the chief justices the final say in nominating judges.

Nayyar Bukhari elected judges' appointment committee chairman

Senator Nayyar Hussain Bukhari has been unanimously elected as chairman of the parliamentary committee on judges’ appointments, reported Express 24/7 correspondent Sabur Ali Syed on Wednesday.

Meanwhile PML-Q leader Chaudhary Shujaat’s suggestion to keep the appointment of the chairman of the committee on a rotation basis was rejected.

The judicial commission has already sent the name of Justice Ijaz Chaudhary, to the committee, for the post of the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court. The decision needs to be taken by the committee in 14 days.

The committee comprises of eight members, with four belonging to the ruling party, and the other four to the opposition.

Senator Bukhari is a member of the Pakistan People’s Party and also the leader of the House in the Sentate.

Admin LHC penalizes 18 judges

LAHORE: Khawaja Muhammad Sharif of the Lahore High Court Chief Justice ordered disciplinary against judges of the courts below on bribery and other charges, including the retirement of judges a.

Sanctions have been decided in a meeting of the Commission on the administration of the large Hadron Collider, headed by the Chief Justice on Saturday.

The Committee has imposed the mandatory retirement service district and judge Gabriel Francis de Bhakkar.

It also removed civil justice Saeed Ahmed Awan, currently stationed in yazman side.

The Committee was demoted Akram - ul - Haq Kehror Lal Esan of judge Chaudhry civilian 1st class (BS 18) class 3rd civil judge (BS 17) for two years.

It also increased the minor sentences given to civilian judges Muhammad Tariq of Khanewal Sharafat Ali Nasir of Mianwali in key sentences.

The Committee decided to launch a fresh investigation into charges against civilian judges Faiz Ahmad Ranjha and Faisal Jamil, which have already been made of special service agents.

It is committed to open disciplinary proceedings against ten judges on miscellaneous.

They are additional district and judges M Khalid Mahmood Warraich, Amjad Ali Shah Muhammad Shafique Butt and civil judges Muhammad Shafique Chaudhry, Sarwat Mumtaz Syeda, Muhammad Saleem Sheikh, Muhammad Aslam, Amir Mukhtar Gondal, Khuda Yar and Manzar Hayat sessions.

Recommendation of the Committee for the appointment of Mohamed Youssef magistrate judge-cum-judicial civil was dismissed by the Management Committee, for his alleged involvement in immoral activities.

Erased

The Committee dropped a disciplinary procedure against additional district and sessions Muhammad Ittefaq Abbasi Khushab Muhammad Iqbal Khan of Lodhran judges and civil judges Barkat Ali Chishtian and Ilyas Raza Nasir of Malakwal.

The promotion additional district board and judges sessions Hafeez Ullah Khan, and Samundri Pindi Bhattian Hussain, Abid sessions and district judges.
