Regular physical exercise after a regime would prevent the return of visceral fat, responsible among other diabetes and cardiovascular disease. These are the findings of a U.S. study conducted among 97 women.
According to the results, two sessions of 40 minutes of exercise per week can be enough to regain more visceral fat.Aerobic exercise (walking and jogging) and resistance (squats, crunches, squats, exercises with weights, etc..) Are the ones who gave the best results.
In most cases, physically active people have not returned visceral fat, while those who stopped training or have never exercised have returned an average of 33%.
Note that even if participants did not return to active visceral fat, but they gained weight (3.5 pounds on average), but less than those who did no physical activity (6 pounds on average).
Participants were divided into 3 groups. The 1st group complied with a program of aerobic exercise training. The 2nd group practiced exercises resistance while the 3rd group did no exercise.
Initially, participants were subjected to a strict diet until they reach a body mass index less than 25.In total, the average weight loss for all participants was 11 kilos. They were followed for 1 year following weight loss.
The visceral fat is stored in the abdominal cavity, under the muscles of the abdomen. It is particularly insidious because it is invisible and surrounds vital organs.More visceral fat accumulates, the greater the likelihood of developing diabetes type 2 and cardiovascular diseases.
